Development Environment

McLaren Electronics supplies control systems for the most demanding environments. The ECU (electronic control unit) sits at the heart of a system, hosting control algorithms developed graphically in Simulink ® . A wide portfolio of Electronic Control Units is available ranging from the high volume production ready CIU-010 & CIU-100 through to the flagship TAG-320 used in Formula One.

Development

Customers can develop their own control algorithms, using McLaren Electronics’ development environment to transform Simulink ® models into runable applications for the target Electronic Control Unit. Alternatively, McLaren Electronics can undertake the control algorithm development as it does with the Standard ECU supplied to all Formula One teams.

Prototype to Production

Function rich ECUs incorporating data-logging functionality can be used for rapid prototyping and development. The transition into production is eased by allowing the same Simulink ® models to be deployed into development or volume production ready Electronic Control Units.

Sensors

Key to a control system’s performance is accurate measurement, so McLaren Electronics offers a range of sensors to complement its ECUs. Most sensors have been primarily developed for motorsport applications so they are lightweight and perform reliably in high vibration and high temperature environments.

Safe

Safety critical applications can be accommodated; McLaren Electronics has experience in developing SIL 3 rated control systems for automotive applications and DO178B rated control systems for aircraft use.

ECUs and sensors are designed, manufactured and tested in-house in accordance with well established processes.
